TWO DAYS TOUR ITINERARY

NEGOMBO - PINNAWALA – KANDY –SIGIRIYA – DAMBULLA

    DAY 01 : NEGOMBO – PINNAWALA – KANDY

    One of our representative will pick you up from the Bandaranaike international airport or any other
    preferred hotel and drive you to Pinnawala where you can feed and bath elephants. At 10.00 am the
    elephants will be taken to the river for a bath. Elephant riding is possible and it will be an optional
    activity based on the traveler’s choice.
    After completing the Pinnawala visit we will start our journey to the religious capital of sri lanka which is
    Kandy. On the way Visit to the Ceylon Spices and Herbal garden where you will witness all the uses of
    Ayurveda herbal medicine and production of the Sri Lankan spices. On arrival to Kandy we will be doing
    a small city tour with a shopping tour which includes a visit to a woodcarving factory, silk and batik
    factory and gem and Ceylon sapphires museum and factory outlets.
    We will be visiting a tea factory and a tea plantation in Kadugannawa to witness the process of turning
    raw green leaves into the familiar black/brown finished product.
    Evening we will be visiting the pooja ceremony at the temple of tooth relic kandy (dalada maligawa) and
    witness the cultural dance (kandyan dance) According to legend, the Indian shamans came to the island
    upon the request of a king who was suffering from a mysterious illness. The king was said to be suffering
    from recurring dream in which a leopard directing its longue towards the king. Which is believed as a
    black magic of "Kuweni" the first wife of the king "Vijaya". After the performance of the Kohomba
    Kankariya the illness vanished, and many natives adopted the dance.) This performance will take around
    one hour.

    DAY 02 : KANDY- SIGIRIYA – DAMBULLA – DROP OFF

    We will be driving to sigiriya after breakfast and on the way we will be having a short stop at the muthu

    mari amman hindu temple in matale. On arrival to sigiriya village you will start to explore the ancient

    rock fortress or the lion’s rock. After completing the sigiriya climb based on the time which is remaining

    you can proceed on an optional village tour in sigiriya village to explore the traditional life of the

    villagers.


    Proceed to Dambulla caves which dates back to 1 st century BC, this is the most impressive cave temple in

    Asia. It has five caves under a vast overhanging rock, carved with a drip line to keep the interiors dry. In

    1938 the architecture was embellished with arched colonnades and gabled entrances. Inside the caves,

    the ceilings are painted with intricate patterns of religious images following the contours of the rock.

    There are images of the Lord Buddha and bodhisattvas, as well as various gods and goddesses. After

    exploring the caves of Dambulla we will be driving you back to Bandaranaike international airport for

    your departure flight or to any preferred hotel or drop off location.
